- I love MacApp. I like the concept of "ViewEdit". Unfortunately, it suffers
- the same fate as ResEdit, which, in my opinion only became a good, *RELIABLE*
- product as of it's most recent incarnation, version 2.1 (release).
-
- When the Mac first came out, we had RMaker. Yuck. If you step back and think
- about it, RMaker was absurd. The Mac is completely resource DEPENDANT.
- Wouldn't it have been in Apple's best interest to put some serious resources in
- the development of a GOOD resource editing program from the very beginning?
- Wouldn't it have saved every Macintosh developer a tremendous amount of time
- and effort, etc. etc. (including Apple's own developers)?
-
- When I first started programming in MacApp, I was appalled to have ViewEdit
- crash when I would try to edit a template's parameters (remember MacApp's
- editText bug?) I know this wasn't ViewEdit's problem, but I never would have
- figured out how to get around the problem without help!
-
- Doesn't it drive you crazy every time you instinctively try to copy a view and
- paste it? (Everyone at one time or another has wanted to make an exact copy of
- a view before, haven't you?) What about RENAMING or RENUMBERING a view without
- having to go into ResEdit?
-
- What's this about "Delete a view"? You'd think a MacApp developer, of all
- people would know what "Cut, Copy, Paste, and Clear" are?
-
- On my wish list of things to have included are: the installation of my own
- View types placed in a submenu under MacApp's standard types (ex:
- View->MyView1, MyView2, MyView3...). This would eliminate my (and I'm sure I'm
- not the only one) forgetting to give a non-standard view a name and then having
- MacApp die when I create an instance of it.
-
- Obviously, it would be beneficial to be able to copy and paste views to
- different files that are open besides pasting to the scrapbook too.
-
- How about displaying grids without having snap on?
-
- What about "rotating current selection"--rotate through all the subviews in the
- current view and select it. It drives me crazy when I can't click on an object
- without "sending it back" first.
-
- Again, I want to stress that really like MacApp and the tools it gives me, but
- why not go the extra mile?
